Boston Transitional Justice Conference
05/10/2018 - In November 2018 Boston College will be hosting the Towards Transitional Justice: Recognition, Truth-telling, and Institutional Abuse in Ireland conference.This conference will be attended by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone who has been invited to give the opening address of the conference.
The two day event will host a series of talks by academics, advocates, journalists and survivors speaking on a variety of topics from a transitional justice perspective.
The first meeting of the Collaborative Forum was held on Thursday 26th July in Government Buildings Minister Katherine Zappone was in attendance at this inaugural meeting and addressed the Forum’s 20 members, thanking them for their commitment and highlighting the value of the Forum as -
“A real opportunity for us to take one more step in putting our shameful past behind us — not forgetting it, or simply ‘moving on’, but acknowledging, knowing, recording, and building on it; using our past to help us to move forward”.

The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr. Katherine Zappone, has today (06/07/2018) published the report of the public consultation process on the options and appropriate courses of action available to Government in relation to the site of the former Mother and Baby Home at Tuam, Co. Galway.
07/06/2018 - Incorrect Registrations of Birth: New Evidence in St Patrick Guild Records
On Tuesday 29th May, Minister Katherine Zappone made a statement in relation to 126 cases where births were incorrectly registered between 1946 and 1969 had been identified by TUSLA, the Child and Family Agency. These cases were identified during an analysis of the adoption records transferred to Tusla by the former adoption society
St Patrick’s Guild, which show irregularities in the birth registration process. Tusla will be making contact with people in these 126 cases where births were incorrectly registered.

11/05/2018 - Campaign Starts to Invite Expressions of Interest for Collaborative Forum
The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone has today invited expressions of interest from former residents of Mother and Baby Homes and those with comparable experience in a County Home for membership of a Collaborative Forum. Family members of former residents and individuals providing related supports or advocacy are also eligible to apply for membership.
It is intended that majority membership will comprise of former residents of these institutions.
12/04/2018 - Collaborative Forum for Former Residents of Mother and Baby Homes
Last month Minister Zappone announced the members of the Selection Panel tasked with overseeing the process of appointments to the Collaborative Forum for former residents of Mother and Baby Homes. The Panel has met on a number of occasions and is working towards finalising the application and selection process.
Further details will be announced through national media in the coming weeks so as to enable interested parties to submit an expression of interest in participating in this process.
